For a project that is connected either to a distribution system or through a host facility that is connected to the distribution system, the local distribution company will make settlement payments to the generator on behalf of the OPA.

For a project that is connected to the transmission system, the Independent Electricity System Operator will pay the generator for the electricity supplied to the grid at the market price (i.e., the hourly Ontario electricity price or the market clearing price). The OPA will then pay the generator for the balance of the FIT contract price - the contract price less the Independent Electricity System Operator payment - so that in total the generator receives the full FIT contract price.
