Subject:  Renewable Energy Approval requirements

Question:  Legacy projects must apply within the first sixty days or lose queue position and the value of initial development efforts. While not yet determined, some level of action towards a to be defined Renewable Energy Approval (REA) is listed as a requirement for application for a FIT contract. Can we be confident the REA requirements and the REA steps necessary to apply for FIT be defined with enough time for these actions and any prerequisite actions to be completed within the first sixty days?
Answer:  Please see Section 3 - Application Requirements, sub-section 3.2 Application Information Requirements, part (a) (i) of the draft FIT rules which states:

(a) The following requirements must be satisfied by an Applicant, and the evidence described below must be submitted with the Application as evidence that each requirement has been satisfied:

(i) [Renewable Energy Approval.][NTD: This requirement is pending finalization of the Renewable Energy Approval process by the Ministry of the Environment and/or Ministry of Natural Resources. Applicability to be determined following implementation of the REA process.]

You are encouraged to raise this question during the FIT application process, connection assessments, and application review stakeholder session, currently scheduled for March 24th and 31st.
