| Question: | am currently researching some opportunities surrounding the FIT program and was curious to learn more about the proposed provincial content that will compose the FIT program, specifically the solar PV aspect of the program. I am trying to understand if the percentage that will be required to be provincially manufactured is a percentage of total cost, total material etc.? Also, I am wondering if you could provide me with any further information on the requirements and what is currently being done to ensure that the infrastructure in Ontario is developed to support these requirements. |
| Answer: |
The provincial content requirements are currently under development at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and have not yet been finalized - so it is not yet clear whether the requirement will include total cost or total materials etc.
In regards to the current infrastructure, the FIT is designed to kick-start the renewable energy industry in Ontario. Provincial content requirements will help meet this objective. We expect that manufacturing capability will increase quickly following the program launch. Initiatives to help develop current infrastructure are being discussed at Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure as well as the Ministry of Economic Development and trade. |
