Question:  can we have a certified regulator in Ontario like UL in USA to have the process of certifications for the small wind turbines and inverters for interconnection done in one step with one regulator body with affordable cost for the manufacturers?

Can the OPA support the certfication expense?

We hope with the new Ontario green energy act through the FIT program we allow these turbines with acceptable parameters (such as proper height at least 45 ft, and proper size at least 12 ft diameter blades).

The small Wind turbines will provide more power than solar and can provide more jobs more than solar for long term but it has considerably high initial investment to the consumer.

We suggest to increase the feed-in tariff for these turbines to reduce the Return of investment and to make the process of city zoning approval and hydro power interconnection and CSA approvals more streamlined and regulated through the OPA to make sure it is feasible.

We suggest a 30 cent per KW for small wind turbines within the cities.

Answer:  Thank you for your inquiry. Standards in Canada are developed by standard setting bodies like the Canadian Standards Association. Please redirect your question to: info@csagroup.org

The OPA does not support certification expenses.
