Question:  Is it neccessary to have a grid connection allowing me to sell back to the grid if I will never come close to a net power surplus since my host facility is a very large user and my generation facility will not be large?

note: I would still, of course, have metering capability.

thanks,

Correct Answer: To be eligible for the FIT program, all projects must be connected to the grid - or to a host facility that is connected to the grid.

This is true even if the project is connected behind-the-meter of a host facility and it is not expected that there will be `surplus' power delivered to the grid.

Previous Answer:
Generally, load embedded generators get paid full amount for generation, less any payment for actual electricity consumed. However, in your case, it may not be necessary to have grid connection, if you are unable to produce any excess electricity for the electricity grid. Net metering is an option available to you to help offset your electricity costs.
