Question:  My neighbour and I rent townhomes that are metered seperately. Both of us want to set up a 10KW Solar Power MicroGen System under the microFit program, however we are unable to because we rent the property we are on. A near by property owner (vacant land) has offered to lease to each of us sufficient land to install our own pole mounted solar micro gen systems on a 20 year contract. We are also told by Hydro One the adjacent hydro lines have the capacity to feed into. We intend to have each of our systems seperatly metered. Will this qualify under the MicroFit program rules?
Answer:  The OPA would likely consider these applications on a case-by-case basis.

If the projects were legitimately `distinct' projects, your applications would be accepted - provided that the projects meet other eligibility criteria.

The OPA will not approve applications for larger projects that have been divided into smaller project to receive any benefit.
