As a generator, you are responsible for designing, building, owning, operating and maintaining your project to meet all applicable laws and regulations. Some of the requirements you should consider are the Independent Electricity System Operator Market Rules, the Transmission System Code and the Distribution System Code.
Under the FIT contract, the OPA is obliged to pay the generator the contract price for the power produced over the contract term. The term is 20 years for all technologies except waterpower, where the contract term is 40 years. The contract term begins at the time your project reaches commercial operation.
During the term of your FIT contract, you have no obligation to generate power from your project. The OPA will pay you for the electricity your project produces, but will not penalize you for not generating electricity. However, OPA can terminate your contract if your project does not generate electricity for two consecutive years.
