Once you have accepted your FIT contract and submitted your initial completion and performance security, you need to apply for an impact assessment. The impact assessment will assess the impact of your project on the electricity system, as well as provide the specific details of what is required to connect your project, how much it will cost you and how long it will take to connect.

• For a distribution-connected project greater than 10 kW, a distribution connection impact assessment is required and is conducted by your local distribution company.

• For a transmission-connected project, you must obtain a transmission customer impact assessment, as well as a system impact assessment conducted by the Independent Electricity System Operator.

The OPA strongly recommends that you apply for these assessments immediately after you have accepted your FIT contract.
